A classic Key Lime Pie that’s so easy to make and will surely become a fast family favorite. Recipe: Course: Dessert Cuisine: American Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 35 minutes Servings: 5-6 people Author: Dennis Ludwick Ingredients: 1 1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs 8 tbsp butter, melted 1 tbsp granulated sugar 3 egg yolks, room temperature 1 can (14oz) sweetened condensed milk 1/2 cup key lime juice 2 tbsp key lime zest (save 1tbsp for garnish) 1 cup heavy cream 1 - 2 tbsp powdered sugar (you decide how sweet you want your whipped cream) Instructions: 1. Preheat Oven 350 degrees. 2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, butter and granulated sugar in a bowl and mix together until well blended. 3. Grease a pie pan and add crumb mixture, pressing the crumbs down to form a crust. Set aside. 4. In a separate bowl beat the egg yolks well for a few minutes until the egg yolks are foamy and have lightened in color. 5. Add can of sweetened condensed milk to egg yolks lightly mix together. 6. Add key lime juice and continue to mix. 7. Add 1 tsp key lime zest, mixing into filling. 8. Pour filling over pic crust then bake in 350 preheated oven for 15 minutes. 9. Cool for 1 hour in the refrigerator. 10. Add heavy whipping cream and granulated sugar to mixer and whip on high for 3-5 minutes or until you achieve stiff peaks. (TIP....Chill your mixing bowl and mixer attachment before whipping. You decide how sweet you want the whipped cream so you decide between 1 or 2 tsp) 11. Top the chilled pie with whipped cream and garnish with the remaining key lime zest. 12. Enjoy! Recipe Notes: Make sure you grease your pie pan to avoid the crust from sticking.
