Gov. Wes Moore defended the decision from his redistricting advisory commission to move forward with mid-cycle redistricting amid pushback from some Marylanders and the top Democrat in the Senate. The governor launched the commission in early November. It’s chaired by U.S. Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, and includes former Attorney General Brian Frosh, Senate President Bill Ferguson, Del. C.T. Wilson, and Cumberland’s Mayor Ray Morriss. Morriss is the lone Republican member on the commission. There have been four public meetings where feedback was solicited about whether Marylanders wanted this process to move forward or not.
