At a media event at Celebrity Cars in Las Vegas, held as part of Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week (AAPEX and the SEMA Show,) Axalta demonstrated its Irus system for scanning, matching, and mixing. James Muse, vice president of global sales for Axalta Refinish, shows the fully automated Irus mixing machine, which in less than five minutes prepared the mix for the 2021 Toyota Lunar Rock color. The fully automated process saves the painter time that can better be spent spraying in the booth, according to company representatives, with less waste from errant manual mixes. Irus Mix was rolled out in June in Europe and will be introduced to North America in 2024.
