A Conversation with Ike Udanoh and His Incredible Professional Basketball Journey

I (Coach Mason) recently had the chance to sit down and chat with my good friend and professional basketball player Ike Udanoh. Ike has traveled the world and played in many different countries including Germany, France, Finland, Italy, and more the past several years. One reason I wanted to chat with Ike is that he exemplifies hard work, dedication and perseverance. His incredible journey from college to a successful basketball career came with a few bumps in the road but nonetheless he got to where he wanted to go. Ike spent his college years playing basketball at Wayne St. where he had good success but right before taking the next step into the professional world of basketball he was injured. In our conversation Ike talks through everything that happened to him and how he kept the mindset to overcome these obstacles. He also endured a stretch where he had no place to live, or play while in Europe and this forced him to take chances and bet on himself while trying to pursue his dream.  Right now Ike is in Italy with his family training and preparing for the next opportunity that comes his way. In just a few years he’s been able to climb the latter within Europe to play at one of the highest levels. Obviously like any other hooper, Ike strives to play in the NBA if the opportunity presents itself but he's currently on track to jump towards the Euroleague which is the best level in all of Europe. One thing that separates Ike from the competition is that he has never made an excuse not to workout and train. During this pandemic gyms have been scarce especially overseas. We had a chance to talk through what he does on a day to day basis and also how that plays into his future goals! Again I appreciate Ike sharing his time with us and dropping some major pointers on how to train and reach the highest levels of basketball through perseverance.
