Written by Robert Lowry Arranged by Michelle Good Friday and Easter are coming up this weekend. It is a holiday that I observe and I wanted to offer something to God for all the good that He has done in my life. Since music is what I do, what could be more fitting than making a string arrangement of a beloved hymn? I grew up listening to hymns but didn't really appreciate them until I was an adult (similar to classical music). Nothing But The Blood of Jesus has been stuck on my mind recently. I also sang it at the end of my Take Me To Church Christian cover ( • Take Me To Church by Hozier (Christian cover) . In that video, I had changed the chords slightly from the original hymn. So when I sat down to arrange it for string quartet for this video, I continued with that idea which is what you hear right now. If you are new to my channel and are wondering where the cello sound is coming from since you don't see a physical cello in front of you, allow me to explain! At the opening of my video, what you hear is my electric 5 string violin which I plug into an octave pedal which brings me down and octave into cello register. To see more of that, you can hear me play Bach's Cello Suite No. 1: • Bach Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude on chin cello To my musically inclined friends and subscribers, you'll notice that I really like suspension in my music... Also note the plagal candence at the end! Hehe I'm a music geek! I guess something did stick while I was in music school. For those who do not know what Easter is about, it is a holiday observed by Christians where we remember how Christ, who is the Son of God, became human, lived a sinless life, and then died on a cross and took the punishment of sin in place of all mankind. He then became a conqueror of death when he rose from the dead. Anyone who believes all of this can become a Christian through acceptance of what Christ has done for him or her and acknowledging that Christ is their Lord and savior. As I am writing this now, I realize that I was baptized on April 5, and Easter happens to be April 5th this year! Anyway, I'm thankful for the time that you put into reading this and for listening to my music. I hope you have a lovely week. And if you celebrate Easter, Happy Easter!
