The Plumpton Park Zoo is located in Rising Sun, Maryland, United States, along Maryland Route 273, which is part of the Mason and Dixon Scenic Byway. The Jeremiah Brown House and Mill Site, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is also on the site. The zoo was started by Edward Plumstead in 1985 on his family estate, initially with deer and a few domestic animals. Now the zoo is home to over 180 exotic animals of 60 different species and a professionally trained staff of zookeepers and professionals. The zoo welcomes over 85,000 visitors a year. Animals at the Plumpton Park Zoo What is a mammal? Mammals are vertebrate animals that are endothermic, have hair on their bodies, and produce milk to feed their babies. Many mammals give birth to live young that are small and helpless. Producing milk to feed them allows them to develop more slowly and spend time with the adults as they grow up, learning the skills they need to survive. Regulating their own body temperature and having hair of various thicknesses for protection has also allowed mammals to live in almost every habitat on Earth. · African Crested Porcupine · African Serval · African Watusi · Alpaca · American Bison · American Black Bear · Arctic Fox · Arctic Wolf · Bactrian Camels · Bennett’s Wallabies · Binturong · Black Backed Jackals · Bobcat · Continental Giant Rabbit · Cougar · European Brown Bear · Fallow Deer · Giraffe · Llama · Patagonian Cavy · Pot Bellied Pigs · Prairie Dogs · Pygmy Goats · Reeves Muntjac · Sheep · Siamang Gibbon · Siberian Tiger · Sicilian Donkeys · White Bengal Tiger · White Faced Capuchin Monkey · Zebra What is a bird? Their forelimbs have the same bones as the human arm, but they are highly modified to form the structure for wings. Some of the bones in the wrist and fingers are fused together for extra strength. · Barred Owl · Blue and Gold Macaw · Blue-eared Pheasant · Chinese Silky Chickens · Congo African Grey Parrot · Domestic Turkey · Ducks · Goffin Cockatoo · Harris’s Hawk · Heritage Turkey · Hyacinth Macaws · Moluccan Cockatoo · Peacocks · Red Golden Pheasant · Sandhill Crane · Scarlet Macaw · Silver Pheasant · Sun Conure · Umbrella Cockatoos _____________________________________________________________________ Subscribe To My Channel For More Great Videos Like This / tomsroadtrippin Send Me Mail Tom's Road Trippin 19046 Bruce B.
