NZ: When is 'summer weather' returning? Long range forecast

Extra video --- So many people have been asking us "when will summer weather return?" - so in this video we start at Monday next week and look at the possible weather set-up for the last week of January and going into February. Long range forecasts chop/change all the time - but as forecasters we tend to look for where the high pressure systems are, as that usually dictates the weather we are likely to receive. Watch this video knowing things can change - but here are the longer range maps showing that, yes, summer isn't yet over in NZ - but there are still a number of moving parts (ie, cooler southerlies at times in the south, and a fair bit of energy in the tropics). Our next ClimateWatch (monthly outlook) will be issued on Tuesday the 3rd of February and will dive deeper on the pattern around NZ for the last official month of summer.
