Installation and setup of my new HAPP (Hood Auto Performance Products) 2 post , 4 ton, clear floor hoist. Follow me through from when i bring it home to unbox it and do the installation and what i find out about this hoist along the way. I have been researching my options for a hoist for a long time. Molnar have been the name in workshops for as long as I can remember or at least ever since I started my trade and are obviously a good piece of equipment that also comes at a price. There are a number of "cheaper" alternatives out there now and for the home hack they should be sufficient for light home use. I looked at many options including Joels, HAPP, Aussie etc. Basically all very similar in that they are mass produced in China and are much cheaper. Certainly some design differences but I think the hardest decision is which type whether it be clear floor, high lift, 2 post, 4 post, single or 3 phase and if it will fit in the space you have available. I thought I did my due diligence and went with what I thought was best. As you will see it was not without it problems but the end result turned out ok and now that it has been in use for 12months there has been no further issues. That said. I would have preferred it to not have the issues that you will see. Not included in the video is also a big piece of random steel rod that was inside one of the uprights blocking the carriage assembly! Looks like a waste piece was left in there prior to dipping and thats were it stayed and was basically glued to the inside that then had to be forced out. I will due a follow up video to address the issues, post sales support and serviceability after a year of use. Some glitching in the video at the start. Unsure why. I figured it was my cheap action cam. but I have not experienced the same problem again?
