My rewrite unpacks the truth behind the facade of 'lacy'. On the surface, a misunderstood people-pleaser just longing for understanding, approval and connection, but beyond that, the idea that the grass isn't always greener on the other side and though we may compare ourselves to the people we think have it all together, there's always more that lies beneath the surface and beyond the highlight reel that they choose to broadcast. Everybody has insecurities and we will never know the whole truth. I've chosen to bounce between first, second and third person to highlight the contrast between what you see on the outside versus what's going on internally. Let's get one thing straight, Olivia Rodrigo's sophmore album GUTS is truly a no-skip album. Every song is flawless. There's just something really special about lacy and I, like most people on the Internet so it seems, would say lacy is one of my faves from the album. As much as I love the original, I thought the concept of this song made it the perfect candidate for a rewrite from the other perspective / Lacy's POV. What's your favourite song from GUTS?
