@VUkhanpur Summer Semester Rules 1. The Summer Semester will only cover deficiencies (a course in which a student is deficient about the Scheme of Study of the degree program), failures (where a student has ‘F’ grade), repetitions of courses (where a student wants to or must repeat a course), internship, and improvement of CGPA (where a student does not fulfil the minimum passing requirements). 2. The Summer Semester will be optional. 3. The summer semester's duration will be 8 to 9 weeks. 4. Lab/practicum courses can be offered during the Summer Semester as a deficiency, failure, repetition, or improvement. 5. A student will be allowed to register for a maximum of 2 theory courses OR one lab course. of up to 8 credit hours. 6. Professional programs like Education, medicine, and those requiring Clinical work can offer a maximum of 9 credit hours. 7. A student may be allowed to enroll inan Internship, subject to the fact that the student will not be allowed to enroll in the course work in the same Summer Semester. 8. Students who have failed or been stopped from taking the examination for some reason will be allowed to register in the Summer Semester. 9. The contact hours per week during the Summer Semester will be more than the regular semester to cover the course contents in reduced time duration of the semester. 10. A student must have attended at least one semester at Virtual University to enroll in the Summer Semester. 11. Students cannot enroll in the advanced course(s) for the next semester(s). However, they can enroll where the time bar is a constraint, a maximum of 8 credit hours (two courses). 12. A student may be allowed to enroll in a prerequisite course for an advanced course. 13. The respective academic Department will determine the courses to be offered in the Summer Semester. The academic Heads of the Department will be responsible for providing Summer Semester course offerings two weeks before the commencement of the semester. 14. Course(s) registration/enrolment must be completed by the students within the given time frame of the Summer Semester as per the Academic Calendar announced by the Registrar’s Office of the Virtual University. 15. A student may withdraw from a course(s) within the given time frame of Summer Semester classes. However, once issued, fee vouchers will only be adjusted/revised within one week of the commencement of classes. 16. Mid-term and Final-term examinations in the Summer Semester will be conducted according to the schedule given by the Registrar’s Office of the Virtual University (Academic Calendar). 17. The Virtual University reserves the right to offer, amend, or discontinue Summer Semester offerings based on the University’s needs and resources.
