The Yin practice features poses that are primarily seated or reclined and designed to create space in the yin tissues of the body such as the bones, joints, ligaments and some areas of fascia. The three tattvas, or principles of the practice are: 1. Come into poses at your appropriate depth, or find your edge. 2. Melt into stillness, as that is where the magic happens. 3. Hold poses for time, allowing the breath to do its work. This particular practice is inspired by the air element and designed to stimulate the Heart and Lung meridians. No special props are required for this sequence. You only need a mat. Yin yoga is often practiced without music to allow for complete stillness of the mind and body.
