Shanghai sets record with 3,640-ton green methanol refueling for CMA CGM at Yangshan Port

Shanghai’s Yangshan Port on Friday refuels more than 3,640 tons of domestically produced green methanol to a container ship from CMA CGM, French global shipping and logistics powerhouse. The operation is CMA CGM’s first green methanol bunkering worldwide and sets a new record for the largest single green methanol fueling in China. Meanwhile, the port also handled 4,208 containers. Yangshan authorities used AI monitoring and CCTV to track potential risks in real time while promptly issuing work permits and strengthening supervision to ensure a safe six-hour fueling operation. Since April 2024, Shanghai Port has completed 27 methanol fueling operations totaling over 90,000 tons, making it one of the top three ports globally for green methanol bunkering and a key hub for low-carbon shipping. Shanghai aims to reach LNG bunkering capacity of 1 million cubic meters and 1 million tons for methanol and biofuel by 2030. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
