First Man (2018) - 'The Armstrongs' scene [1080p]
The music in this clip is two tracks on the soundtrack album - 'The Armstrongs' and 'I Oughta Be Getting Home'. Composer Justin Hurwitz built this wonderful score around two main themes. The first one, heard here in a lovely string arrangement, starts off being used to show the warm family life of the Armstrong family, and is later used in a more pulsating fashion to show training at Houston, and finally erupts into a grand orchestral version for the tense landing sequence, before ending the film in a lovely intimate variation. The secondary theme, heard here in the swing scene, is played mostly on theremin, and is used for the sad subplot about the Armstrong daughter. This theme is then used triumphantly in a loud, brass variation as the counterpoint section during the landing sequence, before being interwoven with the Armstrongs theme during the closing scene. Starring Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, Jason Clarke, Kyle Chandler, Ciarán Hinds, Corey Stoll, Patrick Fugit and Shea Whigham. Directed by Damien Chazelle, with music by his regular collaborator Justin Hurwitz.
