CS Kindiki: Operation still on despite leaders pledge to surrender stolen livestock and criminals

Interior cabinet secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki has said that security operation by government will be extended to Isiolo, Marsabit and Samburu East despite pleads by local politicians that a soft approach be implemented. Local politicians including the governor had called on the CS to give elders and local leaders time to return all stolen livestock and names of criminals before the government embarked on the operation Bandits in Samburu East, Kindiki issued a stern warning to bandits that the government was coming after them. Kindiki called on vigilance on the part of the police officers, cheifs,and other security apparatus adding that the government had proqured drones and amoured vehicles to be used in disturbed areas. Isiolo county governor Abdi Guyo said that the notorious cases are known but urged for the government to consider using soft power approach to avoid harming innocent people in the event of a police operation. He said that all stolen livestock must be returned to their owners by the end of the current process and called on local leaders to educate the public that cattle rustling was not profitable. Postor Jmaes Lokole who is also the Isiolo sub county grazing committee chairperson urged the CS to consider an alternative route to weed out the bandits sighting that the operation could harm innocent civilians. He said that previous operations have been very degrading and said that the local leaders are ready to produce theives and those haboring stole animals. Mumina Bonaya the County Women MP told the cs that there are many pending cases that needed to be looked into. She said that many times when there is catle theft the government is usually aware of the happenings. She urged the CS to fully equip the new sub counties and start news ones.
