It's great for a kitchen or an office! It's a very simple device. The bottom half is the tank that the pods go in it. You fill it up and the pods absorb the water through their filter that goes in the water. The top handle looking part is where the 3 LED lights are. The lights automatically turn on for 16hrs and turn off for 8hrs. The smart garden comes with a set of 3 basil pods. I also ordered peppermint but the peppermint never germinated so I planted a bunch of spearmints seeds in the peppermint pods and they all germinated and grew as you can see. That led me to think in the future I can experiment with my organic soil and different seeds to see what works with the smart garden's specific light intensity. Click & Grow also sells experimental pods which is the SmartSoil without any seeds allowing you to insert your own seeds if you rather use their soil for faster result.
