20 years after Hong Kong was returned to Chinese rule from British colonization, it was supposed to operate under the principle of "one country, two systems," maintaining its own autonomy in local politics. But what is the reality? The "Handover generation," or "Retrocession generation," who feel neither Chinese nor British, are setting on a journey to explore their identities and start political movements in order to fight for their right to universal suffrage— a right once promised to them by Beijing but now denied. This documentary features their historical endeavors, ideas and challenges, including some of the most prominent young politicians: Wai-Ching Yau, Martin Lee, Nathan Law, and Joshua Wong. ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 – Intro: Young Rebels ▷ 04:50 – Struggle of Young Honkongers ▷ 08:24 – The Hong Kong Identity ▷ 11:24 – 1984 and 1997: History of Hong Kong ▷ 14:43 – Martin Lee and Basic Law ▷ 17:04 – New generation in politics ▷ 22:30 – "Umbrella Revolution" and Electoral Reform ▷ 28:04 – Nathan Law, and collective effort ▷ 35:18 – Mr. Long Hair ▷ 39:00 – "Local Egg" ▷ 41:08 – Wai-Ching Yau , young MP ▷ 44:56 – Aftermath ▷ 47:58 – D-Day ▷ 51:44 – Why China refuses to give Hong Kong universal suffrage ▷ 52:32 – Rebels ▷ 53:50 – Conclusions ▷ 56:09 – Credits #Documentary #Hongkong #China #politics #protests #democracy #rebel #civildisobedience #WocomoDOCS ------- Subscribe to wocomoDOCS: https://goo.gl/sBmGkp Follow us on Facebook: / wocomo ------- 20 years after the British Crown handed Hong Kong over to China, under the motto "one country, two systems" the young Handover generation challenges Beijing and wants to be the safeguard of democracy in Asia.
