Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys "Were You There" (trad) Prince Albert Grand Ole Opry War Memorial Auditorium Nashville, Tennessee Saturday 4 January 1941 (see note) Bill Monroe - mandolin Tommy Magness - fiddle Clyde Moody - guitar Bill 'Cousin Wilbur' Wesbrooks - bass announcer - George D. Hay Photo of Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys circa 1941 found online with the musicians identified. No photographer credited. (L-R: Wesbrooks, Magness, Monroe, Moody) Note on the date: The source tape for this upload is dated January 1941. Other uploads of this same material found here have a date of December 28th, 1940 attached. It's clear from the announcers' patter that the show took place after Christmas, and there are multiple references to the 'year ahead'. George D. Hay begins by wishing everyone a Happy New Year, which could have occurred on either date. I've gone with '41 simply because that's what the source at hand says.
