Date filmed: 20/11/2022 Videos filmed at: 14:43 | 14:49 Route: Hull & Doncaster Branch Line Saltmarshe Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barriers crossing with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD) Location: Station Road, Laxton Trains featured: Lowering 1 (0:00): Class 158 849 (Northern) - 1:36 2C42 Doncaster ➡ Hull Paragon Interchange - Lowering 2 (Starts at 2:13): Class 158 904 (Northern) - 4:11 1J11 Scarborough ➡ Sheffield An obstacle detection system level crossing located next to Saltmarshe Railway Station in the small, remote village of Laxton deep within the fenlands to the east of Goole in East Yorkshire. There used to be a signal box here which controlled this level crossing up until late 2018, during the time which this level crossing only had barriers and audible alarms - no road traffic lights! This signal box was unfortunately demolished during re-signalling, with operations now handed over to York. The level crossing system currently in use here is a Bombardier 'EBI Gate 2000' system with approved bespoke barriers. This very quiet level crossing also rather oddly has four alarms, an oddity because of how little road and foot traffic uses it.
