What if everything you thought you knew about Mormon doctrine was revised? Imagine discovering that prophets taught things so controversial, so extreme that the church quietly erased them from official history. Teachings about God, about salvation, about blood atonement—teachings that would shock even faithful Mormons today. In this video, we expose four banned Mormon teachings that historians can't stop talking about. Teachings that were once central to the faith and are now buried, denied, or explained away. The four banned teachings: 1. Adam-God Theory – Brigham Young taught that Adam was actually God the Father. His own words from the Journal of Discourses: "He is our Father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do." Later prophets called it false doctrine. Which one spoke for God? 2. Blood Atonement – The belief that some sins (murder, adultery, apostasy) are so serious that the blood of Jesus cannot wash them away. The sinner must have their own blood shed. Brigham Young taught it explicitly. Was it ever practiced? Historians debate, but the sermons exist. 3. The Priesthood Ban – From the 1850s until 1978, Black members were denied the priesthood and temple ordinances. The First Presidency called it doctrine tied to the curse of Cain. In 2013, the church disavowed it as "speculation." 130 years of racist doctrine—then suddenly not doctrine. 4. The Evolving God – Early Mormonism taught God was an exalted man with a physical body, who had a father, who had a father. Today, these teachings are softened or hidden. Too strange for interfaith dialogue? Too embarrassing? They're still in the canon but you won't hear them in Sunday School. The pattern: Over and over, the church teaches things officially by prophets that later leaders disavow. Adam-God was confusing. Blood atonement was embarrassing. The priesthood ban was racist. So they changed. But if prophets speak for God, why do their teachings change so dramatically? Based on: Journal of Discourses, official church essays (Race and the Priesthood), First Presidency statements, King Follett Sermon, and historical documents. If you're a believer trying to reconcile these teachings, an ex-Mormon processing your faith crisis, or just someone curious about what the Mormon church really taught, this video gives you the documented facts.
