HUNGER & THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS 40 Days Prayer & Fasting Theme: Arise and Shine Anchor Scripture: Isaiah 60:1 Core Scripture: Hebrews 12:22 Key Scripture: Matthew 5:6 Focus: Preparing a People to Ascend, Align, and Advance from Zion ________________________________________ AWAKENING HOLY HUNGER Beloved, welcome to Day 4 of our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting as we journey toward ZION 2026. This is not a ritual. This is not a religious countdown. This is a divine summons. God is not merely calling us to pray more. God is calling us to desire Him more. 📖 Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Notice—Jesus does not bless the gifted. He does not bless the busy. He blesses the hungry. Before revival breaks out, before glory manifests, before Zion is revealed— hunger must awaken. ________________________________________ THE BEATITUDES — THE DNA OF KINGDOM CITIZENS Matthew 5 introduces the Beatitudes, which are not blessings for behavior, but descriptions of Kingdom identity. Matthew 5:6 is the fourth Beatitude, the pivot point. The divine progression: 1. Poor in spirit – I know I need God 2. Those who mourn – I grieve what separates me from God 3. The meek – I surrender control to God 4. Those who hunger and thirst – I aggressively pursue God Hunger is not the beginning. Hunger is the result of surrender. You don’t hunger until pride dies. You don’t thirst until self-sufficiency collapses. ________________________________________ WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HUNGER & THIRST? Jesus uses physical language intentionally. Hunger is not casual. Thirst is not polite. Hunger says: “I must eat or I will die.” Thirst says: “Nothing else can substitute for water.” 📖 Psalm 63:1 “O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You…” This is not Sunday Christianity. This is desperation spirituality. God is not moved by routine prayers. God is moved by desperate hearts. 📖 Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” ________________________________________ WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS IN THE KINGDOM? Righteousness is not: • Religious performance • Moral superiority • Legalism Biblical righteousness means: 1. Right standing with God (through Christ) 2. Right alignment with God’s will 3. Right relationships with people 4. Right representation of God on earth 📖 Romans 14:17 “For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Righteousness is Kingdom alignment. To hunger for righteousness is to say: “God, rearrange my desires until Your will becomes my pleasure.” ________________________________________ “THEY SHALL BE FILLED” — THE GUARANTEE Jesus gives a Kingdom guarantee. “They SHALL be filled.” This filling is: • Not temporary • Not emotional • Not shallow 📖 Ephesians 5:18 “Be filled with the Spirit…” This is continual filling. Overflow living. Transformation power. Worldly satisfaction leaves you empty again. Kingdom filling redefines your appetite. ________________________________________ FASTING — RESTORING SPIRITUAL APPETITE Fasting does not impress God. Fasting disconnects distractions. Fasting restores: • Sensitivity • Discernment • Hunger Ask yourself: • What has replaced my appetite for God? • What voices have been louder than His? • What comforts have silenced conviction? This fast is not punishment. It is recalibration. ________________________________________
