Made this video to dispel all the confusion floating around about the operation/design/use of gas regulator plugs for modern Steyr AUG rifles. 0:00 Normal Factory Gas Plug 3:14 Suppressed Fire Style Gas Plug 8:04 Solving Issues with Cycling/Jamming/Trigger Group *NOTE- This suppressor gas plug is NOT designed to make a suppressed AUG quieter than a factory gas plug. It is designed to optimize gas flow for effectively cycling the bolt-carrier group/ammo. The reason a suppressor AUG will be louder than a suppressed AR style rifle is because the AUG has a vent hole that lets excess gas escape, on the side of the gas cylinder. So there will inevitably be a loud POP! even if you have the largest suppressor in the world at the end of your muzzle. The suppressor gas plug actually allows for the largest amount of gas to escape this vent port. But it's still way quieter than no suppressor at all... For a very limited time, the company Ratworx made a special AUG suppressor that had a side-car style sheath that covered this gas vent port to solve that issue, but they stopped manufacturing it long ago. Both types of gas plugs will have 3 positions stamped into the outer wall of the gas cylinder tube: The first position is marked by a smaller indented circle engraved into the gas cylinder, closest to the barrel. The second position is marked by a larger indented circle engraved into the gas cylinder but is a few millimeters further away from the smaller circle. The third position is marked on the bottom of the gas cylinder with "GR" engraving. To select these positions, you must rotate the black "rabbit ear" latch so that the bigger black circle/pin on the latch (NOT the smaller black circle/pin on opposite side) will line up with the gas cylinder's engraved position markings that I just mentioned above. If you are looking down the sights of your gun, you would rotate the "rabbit ear" latch CLOCKWISE to go from position 1, to position 2, to position 3. As I discussed in this video, for standard gas plug, position 1 is normal mode, 2 is adverse mode, 3 is grenade mode. For suppressor gas plug, position 1 is normal mode, position 2 is grenade mode, position 3 (GR) is suppressor mode. The manual doesn't even tell you about GR mode for some fucked up reason.
