A playthrough of Black Pearl's 1996 license-based sports games for the Super Nintendo, Olympic Summer Games. This video shows the full Olympics mode played on the medium difficulty level. Olympic Summer Games, the official game of the 1996 Atlanta games, is the sequel to Tiertex's Olympic Gold: Barcelona '92 for the Sega Genesis (   • Olympic Gold: Barcelona '92 (Genesis) Play...  ), Master System, and Game Gear. The cartridge-based versions of Olympic Summer Games for the SNES, Genesis, and Game Boy feature a similar line-up of events to the fancy 3D Playstation (   • Olympic Summer Games: Atlanta 1996 (PlaySt...  ) and 3DO versions. There are ten in total: four of them - the 100m dash, hurdles, pole vault, and archery - make a return from Barcelona '92, while the other six - the high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus throw, javelin throw, and skeet shooting - are new for the sequel. But despite being four years newer, it would be difficult to argue that the Atlanta game improved on any aspect of Barcelona '92. The gameplay has been simplified, there's less variety in the events, and the presentation is far weaker. The colors are flat, the animation is awkward, the stadium feels lifeless, all the nice UI flourishes and cutscenes have been stripped out, and there are hardly any sound effects. It's all very sterile and lacks any personality or excitement. It's dead boring. Coming off such a promising start with Barcelona '92, Tiertex disappointed with this one. _____________ No cheats were used during the recording of this video.
