I reviewed my live engine data with my Bosch 1300 OBD I and II scanner on my 1994 Mercedes C280. Yes, Mercedes was two years ahead of the mandate. My Long Term Fuel Trim was reading -11.7% which is out of range of -10% to +10%. I believe error codes don't trip until maybe 20% and by then a whole host of new problems could occur. A negative Long Term Fuel Trim means the car is running rich and the computer has to not inject as much fuel into the cylinders during each combustion cycle. One potential cause of this rich condition is a bad fuel pressure regulator. After taking mine out I was able to draw fuel out through my vacuum line port. Fuel is not supposed to come out of the vacuum line.
