This lab will walk you through creating a REST service using Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) on an Autonomous Database. You will start by creating an application user whom you will use throughout all the lab steps. Once created, we will load data and create a table in our database. Using the same UI, we will REST enable that table so that endpoints created for all major operations (create, update, query, delete). Lastly, we will use OAuth to secure the REST service endpoints. This lab will be done entirely from the Database Actions UI that is provided with all Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) installs and with the Autonomous Database in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. 1:50 Presenter Intros 7:32 ORDS overview 13:59 Begin Lab 3 17:59 Reviewing Oracle Autonomous Database provisioning 20:20 Reviewing Database Actions 22:32 Three ways to load data in Database Actions 27:09 Auto-REST enabling a table with ORDS 29:18 The new “Show Code” toggle function in Database Actions 30:50 cURL Commands in the OCI Cloud Shell 34:27 Begin Lab 4 34:40 Batch Loading large CSV files with cURL commands and Oracle REST APIs 49:05 Reviewing table counts with SQL 49:40 Creating a procedure and testing with PL/SQL 52:40 When to move from auto-REST Oracle APIs to fully customized Oracle APIs 54:13 Query parameters - a brief mention 55:30 Begin Lab 5 56:40 Creating Modules in Database Actions 1:02:26 Template creation part 1 1:04:12 Handler creation part 1 1:09:40 Creating a Template and Handler part 2 and REST-enabling PL/SQL business logic 1:15:25 Creating a Parameter for a Handler 1:21:00 Exporting your Resource Module in the OpenAPI specification 1:26:50 Teasing a new Oracle REST API + Flask + Python LiveLab Access the lab guide: https://bit.ly/livelab-ords View the slide deck: https://bit.ly/slides-ords Follow along with the lab steps in a free cloud account: https://bit.ly/cloud-offer-0914
