The Snowboard International First Thoughts are back for another season of in-depth gear reviews, giving you the lowdown on the best snowboard gear for winter 25/26. This time around, the team spent two weeks up in Åre, Sweden, putting the latest kit to the test: five riders, three videographers, and one epic resort. Our crew tested the Black-Line QuickSett Origin Binding Disc (24/25), a system designed to let riders fine-tune stance angles with full adjustment and secure locking every 3°. The unit we rode was paired with a K2 binding—which isn’t officially compatible—so the disc couldn’t rotate properly once tightened, but that’s down to tolerances, not the concept itself. This Origin model is being phased out in favor of the new Origin 2.0, already available for preorder and set to launch in October 2025, promising improved compatibility and smoother function. Here's our review on the Blackline Quicksett Origin Binding 25/26. The binding shown in the test is a K2 model, which unfortunately is not yet officially compatible with the QuickSett system (that’s likely why the rider wasn’t able to rotate the disc once the binding was fully tightened — the ring he used doesn’t have the correct tolerances for K2). The model featured in the video is the QuickSett ORIGIN (24/25 version). This version is now being phased out and replaced by the new QuickSett ORIGIN 2.0, which is already available for preorder and will officially launch in October 2025. In the intro, the QuickSett is described as “just allowing you to align your foot,” but technically, it allows full angle adjustment and locking every 3°, which is one of the core features we want to highlight.
