U.S Government Says, "Lamu, Kenya is Dangerous."

Lamu, on the Kenyan coast, close to the Somali border, had a bad rep for a few years because of various security issues. A lot of countries had travel restrictions on Lamu and that’s pretty much what we knew about Lamu when we were invited in this trip. We went and found out that Lamu’s also been called the island where time stood still. The Swahili culture, architecture, food, and life are amazingly preserved and it’s one of the most beautiful places we’ve been to in Kenya. The island of Lamu was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2001. We loved our visit to Lamu and our stay at Forodhani House. You should visit if you ever get the chance. We can’t wait to go back!
