One man was beaten whilst the delegation was there. Another man was taken away by opposition forces. Was dragged out of bed and taken away, ostensibly to be taken to Misrata for questioning because they told him the questioning he would get in Tripoli would not be extensive enough." 19. Amnesty sign STORYLINE: Hundreds of black African migrants have been detained by Libyan vigilantes since the fall of Gadhafi''s regime. The suspicion is that some of them supported Moammar Gadhafi''s troops during the six months of unrest. In Tripoli, AP Television discovered a number being held captive at a local football playing field. Inside, a dozen civilians, acting under orders from no-one, have detained about two hundred men. The claim is the men being held captive fought as soldiers or mercenaries for Gadhafi. However, the accusations are only supported by circumstantial evidence, if any is provided at all - according to AP reporters who visited the scene. Rebel leaders, who are scrambling to set up their own government in the ruins of Gadhafi''s regime, insist that all prisoners are being treated well. They have acknowledged though, that their control over facilities such as this one at the ''Gate of the Sea'' sports club remains limited. Similar make-shift lock-ups have sprung up across the Libyan capital since it was stormed by rebel forces last week. Most are local initiatives, established in schools or other public buildings by residents who say they are protecting their neighbourhoods from regime elements or a mysterious "fifth column" which could threaten rebel control of the city. A spokesman for the city''s military council told AP the number of people thought to have been detained in Tripoli since rebel forces arrived is around 5,000, but that is just an estimate. The lock-up at this sports club began on Monday when local residents and rebels began combing the old city and port area, rounding people up.
