Join us as we sew and free-motion quilt two versions of a beautiful art tote bag. Although your jeans liner is not the most exciting part of your bag, it determines the size, and so we make it first. 0:00 Intro: VERSION A) Watercolor or colorwash with free-motion quilting and embellishments VERSION B) Easy stencil with free-motion quilting and hand-painting and Raw-Edge Applique options. 0:19 STEP 1. RECYCLED ON THE INSIDE (VIDEO ONE) – Making the jeans liner or bucket & what jeans to use 1:27 Quilted extension will taper down to the liner 2:32 Deconstruct Waist - rip off the belt loops and waistband. Don’t sweat the small stuff. We can add cute patches to holes with brights or jewel tone fabrics. With practice this can be easily done in less than 10 minutes 5:02 Trim off any extra zipper teeth (above the waist seam) and then trap zipper head on by sewing the waistband together if needed. 6:02 Chop the legs off the jeans if you haven’t already 2 inches or so beneath the crotch area. If you go shorter, WATCH OUT FOR YOUR POCKETS 6:46 Cut out and discard inseam 7:20 Turn inside out and then square off zipper area with front seam. Stack pockets and square off lower back area with back seam. Use a large enough seam that you can rip it later if needed. 11:05 Ideally, the waist area is the approximate width of your bag.
