HAMPI EPISODE 4 & FINAL the elephant stable in Hampi was used to provide shelter for the royal elephants. it is one of the very few structures that have not suffered extensive damage during the attack on Hampi.visiting time is morning 8.30 to evening 5.30.there are 11 domed tall chambers.these structures are made of Indo-Islamic design. Guard quarters.as the name suggests ,the building is meant for residence for the guards and servicers.the security guards will start locking up to 5 pm though the visiting time is 5.30pm.as soon as we got out ,a security staff locked the entrance door.I felt a little angry by seeing the people who came to visit after us quitely went back.this subject should focus on the authorities. watch tower....the observation building were placed at the height of the four walls.the guardians of these watch towers were women trained in battle. Lotus mahal.....a very unusual building that looks similiar from the four sides.lotus mahal or kamal mahal.the balcony and the dome that looks like an opened lotus bud.the building still remains with any damage wall by adding,egg,lime and soil...but there are some signs on the wall.valuable diamonds plucked on the wall are signs...this 2 storyed building is still a wonder in the architectural style of modern times.the top balcony was a resting place for queen.visitors are allowed the balcony before...but the visitors have been writing their names on walls,since 2005 they have been prohibited . basement of queen's palace....the queen,s palace a ruined structure that has only the basement as a proof of its existence..... archealogical museum at Kamalapura.....the Archaeological Museum at Kamalapura is dedicated to the ruins of Hampi and Vijayanagara empire.it is suitated within the ruins of the old city of Vijayanagara and just outside the 'Royal centre(Zenana encloure) of the Vijayanagara empire.the museum started functioning in 1972 and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.it capturesthe beauty of the bygone days of Hampi in a wonderful manner.all the days of week except fridays and national holidays can enter here morning 10 to evening 5. HAZARA RAMA TEMPLE.---temple is an important shrine in Hampi.the temple is famous for the lovely bas relics and panels depicting the story of the epic Ramayana.hazara rama temple was built in the early part of the 15th century by the king of Vijayanagara,Devaraya 2nd.the spectacular sight of the Ramayana stories in wall is amazing .the temple stands as an example of the excellent craftmanship of Vijayanagarqa's sculptors. kings secret chamber....... king's secet chamber....the sub -terrain chamber was probably used a treasury of a secret discussion room,located inside the citadel area near Mahanavami dibba.this is supposed to be a secret chamber used by the king to meet his ministers and spies.the ceiling of some of the portions is collapsed.climbdown the steps and walk along the narrow dark corridors to explore the rooms. stepped pushkarani.....the Pushkaranis in Hampi are the sacred water tanlks that are attached to the temples .the Pushkarani that located within the the royal centers in Hampi is known as the stepped pushkarani.it is the south eastern side of the royal enclosure.the enormous tank is an example of the rich architectural skills of the workers belonging to the Vijayanagara era.the key attraction of the tank is the symmetrical layout of the steps. #HAMPI#LOTUSMAHAL#MAHANAVAMIDIBBA#QUEENSBATH
