Dr. Allan Frankel - A Cannabis Pioneer

1951 - 2021 It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Dr. Allan Frankel. Allan and I were good friends. Over our 10 year friendship, we had many talks, podcast discussions, cancer masterclass, docu-series and great laughs between us. He was our first podcast guest when we re-launched UPG over a year ago. Dr. Frankel was a pioneer. His information on cannabis was extensive and he believed in the plant and its remarkable actions on human physiology. His own battle with cancer never stopped him from giving his best, and we were fortunate to have him included on our list of expert contributors. In 2007, Dr. Frankel started GreenBridge Medical with the mission of treating patients living with chronic pain or illness through a combination of traditional treatments and medical cannabis. Dr. Frankel’s expertise in internal medicine, as well as his pioneering work on the applications of clinical cannabis, have had a tremendous impact on the acceptance of cannabis as a safe, natural, and effective medicine. As we move forward toward federal acceptance of cannabis therapeutics, I will always remember the kindness, intellect, and free thinking Allan embodied. He was a fierce advocate for patients... and brave enough to utilize plant medicine even though it remained federally illegal during his entire career.
