Fleece to Custom Cardi // Part 3 -- How I spin rolags

Thanks for joining me on part 3 of this "Fleece to Custom Cardi" series! Below you can see a basic run-through of the process. First, I took all the rolags and weighted them, then divided the total weight by several numbers, finally settling on 12. I then separated the rolags into 12 equal piles and placed them in zip lock bags, each bag being 1 bobbin's worth. While spinning, I discovered pre-drafting each rolag to a thin strip made a huge difference in ease of spinning and more consistency. Not pre-drafting caused more breaks and frustration as well as more lumps and bumps. I am working from clean, picked fleece in two colors plus adding in angora wool from a local farm, aloe from Paradise Fibers, silk brick from Camaj, nylon from Paradise Fibers, and faux cashmere from SAFF (don’t remember which vendor).
