We can no longer afford to keep blaming one gender when it comes to domestic violence if we want to end violence for good. It is hard to accept that women are capable of abuse. Our perception of violence is selective. We perceive violence as being masculine. If we think of partner abuse or domestic violence, we quickly think of a male with his fists in a woman’s face looking threatening and intimidating. Men are viewed as the cause of violence and women and children the victims. This leads us to believe that women never succumb to greed, jealousy, anger, frustration or fury yet studies have shown that males and females show equal amounts of these emotions. Women are seen as nurturing but this does not make them less aggressive. It means they find different methods of violence. Aggression and violence is the expected and inevitable outcome from anger for both men and women. The current problem is that female violence is not seen as abuse because abuse is a label assigned to men’s behaviour. This video discusses women's use of violence
