How to make a mini bag keychain from scrap leather

Looking for the perfect hand made gift? In this video I show you how I make mini bag keychains out of scrap leather. You can personalize these easily with different colors and materials, like cowhide, felt, faux leather, cork or other non-fraying fabric. Put a little note inside and give it to all your friends! This video contains closed captions to provide you with step by step instructions on how to make this. It's available in several different languages. Trace the template on the leather. I can't provide you the template, because I bought it myself on AliExpress. If you typ in the searcharea "mini bag keychain", you will find it. Cut out the pieces. I use a pair of regular cheap fabric scissors, you can also use a knife or something. Punch the holes for the hardware. I use press studs to close the bag and rivets to attach the handle on top. If you use the sew-in kind fasteners, or maybe even velcro, and if you use an extra stitch to attach the handle instead of rivets, then skip this step. Punch the holes for the stitching. With a leather fork, or an awl. If necessary, trim the fuzz from the bag and neaten the edges. Then set the hardware. Before you go to the next step, attach the little belts first, or else you're in trouble later on. Don't ask me how I know that! Then meassure the thread you need. You need two lengths of thread, one about 85-90 cm, and one about 95-100 cm. I use waxed thread for leather, but if you don't have that, you can use extra strong sewing thread. I don't recommend regular sewing thread. It'll tangle up and make you angry. Assemble the bag as shown in the video and attach the keychain to finish.
