There is an alternative path that takes you past the Shadow Hunter boss but I found that to be more difficult to pull off. This route is possible with or without a pet and the only mandatory consumables are 1x Magic Dust (or Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector for engineers) and a couple Invisibility Potions/Lesser Invisibility Potions. The Gnomish Cloaking Device can work for engineers but it has a long 1 hour cooldown and shorter duration than the potions (10 seconds instead of 15 or 18).
