Hey guys, Gypsy with the Skate Truck NYC. My pole skating career has really been with speed skating. I was on the USA World Team and competed at the World Championships for speed skating. So I'm going to give you a few tips on how to skate fast. So the first thing is, always staying low. So you want to get down in a squat position, to where you're almost in a 90 degree, okay? Your chest is a little bit forward for balance, 'cuz if you're here, you're not going to skate as fast. So you want to stay really, really low. So when you push, you need to push straight to the side, arm swing is nice and easy, so you don't want to make your arms go crazy, all the way around, nice and easy, straight to the side, foot circle, come back to your powerbox. Once you get here, your weight transfer comes over as you're pushing your other leg straight out to the other side, and then coming back to your powerbox. So it's like your straight out and making a D and coming in. This is also a great little drill to do without your skates on for balance, so that you can start getting some muscle memory in there as well, so it's nice and easy, arm swing, pushing straight to the side, and back out, always staying low. The lower you are, the further you can push, and the more power you can get, and the faster you can go. So, let's go skate fast.
