Guwahati police begins interrogation of Youth Congress Chief in harassment case

Police in Guwahati is all set to interrogate Youth Congress president Srinivas BV who reached the CID office in Guwahati's Panbazar on Monday, even as security arrangements were beefed up across the Assam capital. This comes over a month after Srinivas was accused of harassment and criminal intimidation by Assam Congress leader Angkita Dutta. Taking note of an FIR filed by Dutta, the state police had served a notice to Srinivas to appear at the Dispur police station on May 2. On April 22, Dutta, the former president of Assam Youth Congress, was expelled from the party for anti-party activities. When Srinivas arrived at the airport in Guwahati earlier in the day, he was flanked by senior Assam Congress leaders who accused the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government of 'political discrimination.'
