A case of jersey cow was attended for not passing feces since 3 days with history of abdominal colic two days before.Per rectal examination revealed a large viscus (long balloon) can be palpated in the pelvic inlet to the right of midline ,ruminal impaction ,suspended rumination,right side distended abdomen, Right sided ping, irregular heart rate ,on examination with metal detector continuous sound of metal foreign body was noticed.So decided to go for exploratory ruminotomy first and one piercing and one metal chip was recovered from reticulum.Rumen is closed in routine manner and dilated caecum was taken out from left paralumbar side .Foul smelling dung material was removed by taking incision on dilated caecum ,incised area sutured with L&C sutures using catgut no.zero.Peritoneum,Muscles sutured using catgut No.1 in a routine manner and skin is sutured with nylon .post operative treatment followed routinely for 5 days.On second day animal showed foul smelling watery diarrhea and On third day animal started normal defecation .
