He's known for his contributions in Hip Hop subgenres of horror core and acid rap. He emerged in the late 1980s and is considered a legend in these genres. Furthermore, he's influenced many artists with his dark, violent lyrics, and experimental sound. Esham released his debut album, "Boomin' Words of Hell,' in 1989, when he was just a teenager. His unique sound and provocative content have made him a significant figure in the underground hip hop scene. Over the years, he's released numerous albums and EPS, both as a solo artist, and as a part of the group Natas. In this talk, we discuss his timeline from before rap, during rap, his first album, his encounters with D12 and Eminem, and his closure of the situation with Detroit Legend Proof. We also discuss his concern for culture protection for the city of Detroit. 00:00 - Chapter 2 01:05 - Early Life 03:47 - Starting Music 04:58 - Music Sales 07:35 - Early Music 09:17 - Royce’s “Pioneer” Statement 10:07 - Culture Protection 11:39 - Eminem 12:31 - Black Culture Protection 15:33 - Mainstream and Underground 18:29 - the Detroit Sound 20:23 - Boom, Red Tape 21:29 - 90s Detroit Scene 24:41 - Purgatory 26:04 - Music Motives 30:27 - Eminem and ICP
