Amtrak trip Washington DC Plattsburgh, NY (24 hour trip)

Welcome to my first long distance trip where I ride on Amtrak's Northeast Regional and Adirondack on a 12 hour trip from Washington DC to Plattsburgh, NY. I was up Friday morning at 7:30 AM and went to work until 1:30 PM, went to lunch with my Grandmother, pack my things and took a shower. At 7:30 PM Friday Night I headed on metro down to DC where I would spend the next 6 hours at Union Station. at 3 AM, Amtrak Northeast Regional 150 was boarding and we had Siemens ACS-64 #665 at the head and at 3:15 we took off! We mainly kept our 125 MPH speed until we stopped or hit slow sections and bad signals. We also hit 2 deer on the way as I was sitting behind the locomotive and heard the horn blow for long time and heard a loud bang twice. When we pulled into Penn station at 6:40 AM I saw the front of the loco and saw the coupler unusually bend at the front and the side was bend with a cable sticking to far out. As I walked into Penn station, I was very hungry so I finally found a McDonalds. The place was so huge that I couldn't find out how to get back to the Amtrak sections and asked for directions 3 times. After breakfast and finding my gate, my train boarded at 8 AM and then at 8:15 AM, Amtrak Adirondack 69 was en-route and for the next seven hours I would remain on the train until I reach my final destination at 3:20 PM Saturday afternoon. When I arrived I had another few hours on the road and to my destination. I was awake for 40 hours exactly and traveled for 24 hours, it was an exhausting trip but was beautiful and worth it.
