#woodworking #art #craft #diycraft #diy #handtools #carving #wood #woodcraft #crafts #relax #learn After my attempted study of cigar spokeshave (intended) bevel, reading comments, and thinking a bit more, I decided to give another try to use the Miller Falls No.1 spokeshave on a project with concave surfaces. Essentially, I tried to use it in the way, I think, it was not intended and looks wrong: inverting the blade position to open spokeshave mouth. The results are two-fold. First, it does cut the concave surfaces this way, for sure. The blade engages with the a wood and you can cut concave profiles. Second, the removable handles prevent effective control of the blade. Basically, inverting the cutter makes the handle to self-untighten during the operation (vs. self-tightening in the original position).
