Meet the wonderful people at family-run Ridgeview, the award-winning English wine producers who make our Booths English Sparkling in the South Downs of England. E.H. Booth & Co. English Sparkling wine is a blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, supported by crisp Chardonnay notes. Red fruits and toasty spice on the nose lead to an intense, yet elegant palate full of ripe citrus fruit with notes of brioche. The Pinot dominance brings depth and complexity, with the Chardonnay adding finesse and freshness. The richness of the palate and vibrant acidity make this a great food wine. Wonderful with rich fish dishes or canapés featuring duck or beetroot, it’s also perfect just on its own. What Is English Wine? Simply put, English wine is wine produced in England, from grapes grown in England. There are vineyards all over England, but one of the best climates for English vineyards can be found in the south region, in Sussex, Hampshire, and Kent. The region has a similar terroir to the Champagne wine region in France, which makes for high-quality grapes. Our E.H. Booth & Co. English sparkling is produced for us by Ridgeview Winery, who have been based in rural Sussex on the edge of the South Downs since 1995. A second-generation family business, their founder Mike Roberts MBE was recognised as a pioneer in the English Sparkling wine industry. Passing the business down to his children Tamara Roberts, CEO and Simon Roberts, Head Wine Maker, in 2013 his legacy continues to thrive. You can buy English Sparkling wine in Booths stores, as well as a range of other fantastic English wines. - You’ll find 27 of our stores dotted around the Northwest of England, each one with its own variety of special, local and unique products and seasonal events. We're a family-run business, and since 1847 we have worked closely with local suppliers and producers from the Northern counties we call home: Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria, and Yorkshire, which we affectionately call 'Booths Country.' Our producers, from the Northwest of England and beyond, supply us with a diverse range of often award-winning food and drink, from Cumbrian artisan bread to Lancashire-grown cauliflowers to authentic Italian pasta. What drives them all is pride in producing a quality product, and what drives us is a love of great food and drink! Over the years we've worked together, we've developed really strong, mutually supportive relationships with our producers and we're proud to be able to put their goods on our shelves, in our fridges and on our counters. We think of them as part of our Booths family. In each of our stores you'll find an array of fresh counters, stocked to the brim with delicious morsels — our cheese counters (and colleagues) are especially well renowned!
