The Rolex Explorer II is a much rarer watch than the Rolex Submariner. They look quite similar, but the Submariner is much more popular at the moment. I think this will change in time when people realise that the Explorer II is far less common than the ubiquitous Sub! The Explorer II 16550 was only made for four years between 1985 and 1989 and this one dates to 1988. I swapped two of my original paintings for this watch and gave the owner £6300 in part exchange. He paid £7500 including auction commission for the watch in 2022. They were retailing at £10,000 at the time!
