(자막만으론 보기 어렵다고 말씀해주신 분들이 계셔서 나레이션을 넣어보았습니다^^) 태국 치앙마이는 디지털노마드나 한달살기를 계획하는 사람들에게 잘 알려진 곳이다. 단점도 있겠지만, 장점이 단점을 압도하기 때문에 전세계에서 디지털노마드가 모여든다. 고산지대라 날씨가 선선하고 예쁜 카페나 맛집, 인터넷 잘 되는 공유오피스가 많아 쉬기에도 일하기에도 좋다. 치앙마이는 스쿠터를 렌트하기 편리하며 오토바이로 10분 거리 안에 주요 생활 편의시설들이 있다. 올드시티를 중심으로 도시 주변에 한달살기에 필요한 숙소(콘도), 마켓, 종합병원 등이 잘 갖춰진 편이다. 서비스업의 수준도 높다. 물가가 싸면서 퀄리티도 좋다. 커피 같은 경우 산지가 가까워 원두가 좋을 뿐 아니라 카페 산업이 발달해 있다. 맛 좋은 음식도 치앙마이의 매력인데 태국 음식이 원래 맛있기로 유명하기도 하지만, 그 외 빵이나 싱하같은 맥주도 잊지 못 할 맛이다. 또한 영어가 잘 통하는 편이라 태국어를 몰라도 큰 지장이 없다. 외국 여행객 뿐 아니라 호주, 미국에서 온 은퇴이민자 등 영어 원어민들이 많이 체류하고 있어서, 영어가 통하는 체육관이나 영어로 진행되는 요가, 쿠킹클래스가 많다. 치앙마이 대학교 인근의 치앙마이 야시장이나 올드시티 외곽의 선데이마켓(치앙마이 주말 야시장)에서 받을 수 있는 마사지도 빼놓을 수 없는 장점이다. 이 밖에 한달살기를 10여 차례 하면서 느낀 치앙마이의 장점에 대해 이야기해 보았다. (This is a narrated version of the previous video.) Chiang Mai, Thailand, is a popular destination, especially with digital nomads looking for a place for remote work. I have stayed in Chiang Mai for a few times and as a digital nomad, I will talk about the pros I’ve experienced. Aside from the well-known low cost of living, Chiang Mai offers many benefits not just to casual tourists but to retirees and immigrants. Chiang Mai has a rainy season from May to Oct. and burning season in Feb. is anonymous. But the weather in Chiang Mai is cooler compared to the southern regions of Thailand, because it is located in a mountainous region. There are many coworking spaces with good Internet access and cafes, such as Akha ama cafe, Fern forest cafe, Ristr8to, where you can relax after work. There are also many condos and homestays available for long term stays. Chiang Mai is very foreigner-friendly. Not just tourists, but also many retired immigrants from Australia and the United States stay in Chiang Mai. Because of the huge population of native English speakers, locals speak English too, so learning Thai is not required. English is spoken in gyms and yoga, or cooking classes. And within 10 minutes on a scooter, you can reach big, modern hospitals and shopping malls. You can get a good massage everywhere from Chiang Mai Night Market or at the Sunday Market (Chiang Mai Weekend Night Market).
