Timestamps 00:32 - The gaming industry and stocks 03:00 - Separating the companies 05:25 - Rise of Microtransaction 06:11 - Gaming ETFs 06:53 - Picking a stock 09:54 - My favorite picks Hundreds of millions of gamers around the world helps fuel the continued growth of the video game industry and investors are joining in on the fun. Not only are more and more people playing them, but also spending money in game on microtransactions like skins, DLC packages or equipment boxes. This allows the big gaming players to maintain revenue growth despite somewhat slowing growth in the overall gaming market. Here are the big ones: Activision Blizzard [ATVI] EA [EA] CD projekt red [CDR] Microsoft [MSFT] NetEase [NTES] Nintendo [NTDOY] Sony [SNE] Taketwo Interactive [TTWO] Tencent [TCEHY] Ubisoft [UBI] These stocks have done well in the past decade and easily outperformed the S&P500. I think this trend will continue for most of them and I'm personally betting on Activision Blizzard. With the growth of microtransactions, mobile and E-sports, these companies can take market share from each other and increase revenue per customer. You can also go with a video game and Esports ETF like VanEck's ESPO or Global X's HERO, but I dont find these all that attractive since you get companies like nvidia, amd, blibli and nexcom. With a maturing market like gaming I also think the best option is to pick the top performers based on the actual games they make. What will be the next Fortnite or League of Legends? Place your bets Investors. Disclaimer: This video is purely my opinion and should not be regarded as factual information. I am not a financial advisor.
