"The work of your specialist forensic experts really helps to investigate Russian war crimes and collect necessary evidence to bring them to the main thing: to justice," he said. He was accompanied to the air base by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren. Earlier, in The Hague, where the International Criminal Court is based, Zelenskyy urged the global community to hold Russian President Vladimir Putin accountable and told the ICC judges that Russia’s leader “deserves to be sentenced for (his) criminal actions right here in the capital of the international law.” In March, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin for war crimes, accusing him of personal responsibility for the abductions of children from Ukraine. It was the first time the global court circulated a warrant for a leader of one of the five permanent U.N. Security Council members. Speaking at the air base, Ollongren said her country was "determined to continue to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in their endeavour to withstand Russian aggression." She said that the Netherlands was providing the ICC with a mobile forensic unit to investigate potential crimes in Ukraine that she described as "crucial for bringing those responsible to justice." =========================================================== Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
