Recently implemented multidisciplinary PERT (Pulmonary Embolism Response Team) pathway, presented by Dr Tina Xu, Consultant Intensivist and Deputy Director of the Intensive Care Unit and Canberra Health Services. Key Messages: • The incidence of PE and its severity is increasing. • High-risk & intermediate-high-risk PE continues to carry high mortalities & morbidities. • Rapid assessment, risk stratification and activation of advanced therapies in selected patients may lead to survival benefit and less PE-related complications. • PERT enables multi-disciplinary senior input and ensures tailored treatment for high-risk/intermediate-high-risk PE, particularly, in some evidence-limited areas. • PERT requires constant training/education in evaluations and advanced therapies. • Organisation-specific challenges are to be overcome and collaboration is the key.
