Because with all these different stories about his scar, it can get a little confusing. First, he was supposed to have gotten it from his father as a form of punishment. Then we read a story about how he got it from a cape buffalo while he was trying to set up his brother Mufasa. But when we watch the lion guard, we see that a snake has bitten him in the eye.
