Gasholder No. 8 The iconic gas holders have been residents of King's Cross for over 150 years. Now they are being refurbished for a whole new use: Originally constructed in the 1850s, Gasholder No. 8 is a Grade II listed structure. Now in 2013 it is returning to King's Cross, being rebuilt on the north side of the canal. The distinctive 25m high circular guide frame is a Grade II listed structure. Disused since 2001, its 25m high circular frame has been painstakingly dismantled and refurbished in Yorkshire and is now being re-erected on-site to the north of the Regents Canal. It will eventually sit next to the three other gasholders -- the Triplet - which will house apartments, a possible top floor restaurant and ground floor retail. This group of gasholders, situated next to the canal, will echo the original collection of gasholders that made up the Imperial Gas Works located at King's Cross. The Gasholder no.8 frame will sit in new landscaping with paths leading down to the canal towpath and a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over Regent's Canal is planned. http://www.kingscross.co.uk/heritage-... http://www.argentllp.co.uk By acenet
