Abandoned Ridham Dock Level Crossing, Iwade, Kent. Location: 51.382594, 0.753735 Date Filmed: 19-12-2020 Located on an access road around the outside of Ridham Dock industrial estate, near Iwade in North Kent. This is a rare and hidden open level crossing for the former railway connecting Ridham Dock to the national rail network. Past the metal gates is the entrance into Ridham Dock and the other direction heads to the Sheerness Line. Some parts of the line can still be seen across the road and in both directions up-to the crossing. I believe the line was used by trains carrying scrap metal from the site. In the early 2000s, the line became no longer used after a lack of demand and road transport favored. There are plans to preserve the line however there is the possibility this line could be re-opened by Network Rail in the coming years. The crossing itself has four Forest City halogen warning lights with white borders. All the lights look very old, and only one of the four still looks in a vaguely original condition. The other three warning lights have either broken bulbs, missing lenses or facing away from the road. In addition to the old warning lights, there are two Klaxon alarms on the backs of the two left-side warning lights. One of the alarms has several cracks. There are also red/white striped warning signs on the poles. Thanks For Watching!
