Today’s audit breakdown takes place inside a post office — one of the more contentious places for First Amendment audits. Some people think post offices are public property. Others believe you can’t film inside because it’s “federal” or just feels too close for comfort. Add tight quarters, foot traffic, and misunderstanding — and conflict brews fast. In this video, a woman takes immediate issue with the auditors filming. She brings attitude, and the auditors don’t exactly de-escalate — they chirp back. But things turn physical when she approaches one auditor and tries to grab his phone straight out of the monopod. She fails, then returns later and successfully rips another phone out of a second auditor’s rig, hides it behind her back, and starts walking off with it — full-on theft. He’s forced to wrestle it back from her physically. But she’s not done. She then strikes another auditor in the face, pushing him back into a metal cart. It’s fully captured on camera, and you can hear the collision. After this, police are called and arrive fairly quickly. The woman gives officers a very different version of events — claiming they shoved cameras in her face and she simply reacted. While that does happen later, it’s well after she’s already assaulted multiple people. She omits grabbing anyone’s property, striking anyone, or walking off with a phone. And in a rare twist for these videos — she ends up in handcuffs and taken away in a police cruiser, not just given a citation. Had she stopped after the first confrontation, an arrest might have been overkill. But after three or four distinct physical actions — including assault and attempted theft — it’s clear the arrest was justified.
